The City Intimation Slip is an advance information document released by NTA on the official UGC NET website. It:
- Shows the citywhere your exam centre is located.
- Confirms the date and shiftof your exam (for English, 5 January 2026 – First Shift).
- Helps you arrange travel tickets, accommodation, and logisticswell in time so there is no last-minute panic.
This is not your Admit Card, but it is still extremely important because:
- You get clarity on whether your centre is in your home city or a different one.
- You can immediately book train/flight/bus ticketsif the centre is far.
- You can plan to reach the city one day earlier, especially in winter or foggy weather, when delays are common.

UGC NET (NTA) has now released the City Intimation Slip for the upcoming exam, and this update is especially important for all English Literature aspirants whose exam is scheduled on 5 January 2026. For English (Paper 2 – UGC NET English Literature):
- Exam Date:5 January 2026
- Shift:First Shift
- Exam Timing:9:00 am (Paper 1 + Paper 2 combined as per current pattern)
- Reporting Time:Students are requested to reach the centre by around 7:30 am (or as mentioned on their slip/admit card).
Arriving early helps you:
- Clear security checks comfortably.
- Find your room and seat without stress.
- Settle down mentally before the exam begins.
Winter conditions, fog, traffic, and unfamiliar routes can cause unexpected delays, so starting early is essential.

FAQs – City Intimation & English Exam on 5 January 2026
Q1: Is the City Intimation Slip the same as the Admit Card?
No. The City Intimation Slip only tells you your exam city and basic details. The Admit Card will be released separately and must be carried to the exam centre.
Q2: Where can I check my City Intimation Notice?
On the official UGC NET/NTA website using your application number and date of birth. Always avoid unofficial links and third-party websites.
Q3: My English exam is on 5 January 2026. What is my shift?
For UGC NET English, the exam is scheduled on 5 January 2026 in the First Shift, starting at 9:00 am.
Q4: Why am I being asked to reach by 7:30 am?
